I read about this guy who was trying to live with no impact. Most media, when his year-long adventure blew up, were obsessed with finding out what he used instead of toilet paper. But I was stuck on something a little more upper-shelf in the bathroom stakes. Does a hard-core no-impacter environmentalist floss? Re-use their … Continue reading Get to know your Garbage

Pemberton Community Weed Pull, Wed June 17, 3:30pm, Arn Canal
I cannot even tell you how therapeutic I find weeding. Imagine a weeding-mob?! Imagine a whole crew of you, gloves-on, refreshment-fuelled, ripping up weeds and invasive species, en masse? Well, you don't have to imagine it. You can just show up. Meet at the covered bridge by Highway 99 on the Arn Canal (that's the … Continue reading Pemberton Community Weed Pull, Wed June 17, 3:30pm, Arn Canal
How to secure your event’s Sign space at the downtown Pemberton roundabout
It can be tricky spreading the word about an upcoming event, and without a doubt, the most prime real estate (imagine a marriage proposal?!?) is the Village of Pemberton's sign at the roundabout. Demand is high (and that's even without marriage proposals or 40th birthday announcements), so the Village has adopted a slightly more rigorous … Continue reading How to secure your event’s Sign space at the downtown Pemberton roundabout

When we ran into each other at the Wellness Gathering, knowing that she's been digging deep into her own personal wellness journey, I asked if she'd be willing to share her thoughts as … Continue reading Parenting. With the help of Brenda Lloyd and others it spent some weeks at Owl Rehab in Delta. Last week it was found to be fit for release. It was … Continue reading Come count birds. Gathering to learn how to share your stories, Ullus Community Centre, June 12
Breaking News! (Okay, I say this with a little bit of sarcasm.) Scientists in Australia are starting to find physical evidence that ancient Aboriginal stories, especially of massive cataclysmic events like meteors and floods, are actually true. I eye-roll because I wonder why it's so hard for people to accept oral stories with weight and … Continue reading Gathering to learn how to share your stories, Ullus Community Centre, June 12
Photo for June 7: Ruben Guibert takes the long view
Happy to reprise our weekly photo, thanks to our amazing contributors Ruben Guibert, Polek Rybczynski, Gary Martin and Dave Steers. Why a weekly photo post as a wellness offering? For me, it's a way to invite a moment of contemplation on a Sunday, given how inspired I am by the Quaker idea of gathering each week … Continue reading Photo for June 7: Ruben Guibert takes the long view
