In partnership, the Village, SLRD – Squamish-Lillooet Regional District, and Lil’wat Nation are developing an Evacuation Plan for the Pemberton Valley that will have a focus on major flooding events. Catastrophic flooding is a possibility in the Valley and the new floodplain mapping has provided insight that the risk is high.
To prepare a thorough and workable plan, the Village, SLRD and Lil’wat Nation need to hear from you. With an accurate snapshot of how people in the Valley would evacuate in the event of a major emergency, more people will get to safety.
This 2 minute survey, found at: https://bit.ly/2WoSFMm, will assist with development of the Evacuation Plan.
It basically asks how many people and pets are in your household, and how you might evacuate.
The information collected is completely anonymous and will be used by traffic engineers to prepare traffic management plans and by first responder agencies to calculate what resources would be needed for an effective and, most importantly, safe evacuation.
This survey will be available until May 20th, 2019. Thankyou for your time and help in creating a prepared Valley.
