We are halfway through a week-long waste reduction party… as Canada acknowledges Waste Reduction Week. So, how is your trash can looking? How about the ditches and waterways and trails you frequent?
And what can you do about it?
If it starts to feel too vast, consider the recent news story in the Pique: that 5 companies create nearly 50% of plastic trash in Canada. Nestlé, Tim Hortons, PepsiCo., The Coca-Cola Company and McDonald’s are the big players, which makes it easier to target your efforts, if you want to advocate for a plastic-free environment. Oh, and hit up the cigarette manufacturers too, as butts are a major contributor to plastic pollution.
