Remember the Meager mudslide

Much of Meager dropped into the valley at the beginning of August seven years ago and the result is still very evident. We flew up there that morning and I remember it like it was yesterday. We knew something had happened but had no idea of the scale and when we flew around the last corner and saw the toe of the debris torrent and the sheer size of the slide we were speechless. For at least a minute the three of us in the helicopter simply stared out the front window as we got closer and were able to see the devastation more clearly. Our pilot Steve Gray finally broke the silence with the perfect description of the event. “Biblical” he said. We closed our mouths and nodded. ~ Words and photo by Dave Steers
