The SLRD has shared the latest weather alert from Environment Canada: a Special Weather Statement for Howe Sound, Whistler and the Fraser Canyon.

A powerful storm will hit British Columbia on Thursday and Friday, producing strong winds and heavy rain across the South Coast. The storm is expected to hit the South Coast late Thursday morning and continue through Friday.

Strong winds will begin Thursday afternoon in the Southern interior, including the Lytton/Lillooet area, although heavy rain is not expected.

There remains a fair bit of uncertainty as to the timing of the storms’s exit into Washington state. The storm could linger over the southern part of the province all day Friday, bringing copious amounts of precipitation.
