Happy Thanksgiving

I am grateful for the friends who drove all the way from Grand Forks to spend the weekend with us, even though they’re “horrible teenagers” and should be much too full of attitude to want to have anything to do with us. And I am grateful for my brother-in-law, who saw me eyeing the naked goose-pimpled flesh of the turkey, juggling a copy of The Joy of Cooking in one hand, and the disposable turkey tray in the other, and took over.IMG_0194_2Grateful for the frog my toddler spied in the backyard, for the bear that ran by, for the fact that the rainfall warning this weekend didn’t turn into any landslides or floods or emergencies, …

for cups of tea, and a spouse who still makes me my morning cup of coffee, even when he’s annoyed at me, for the stock that is simmering on my stove top, for living in a town with an excellent bakery… and for a laundry list of things that, now I’m on a roll, I think I might start writing down in my own notebook, and leave you to your thoughts on what is beautiful and worth appreciating in your lives.

IMG_0209_2Thank you for being part of the Wellness Almanac, and this journey that we are striving to make more encouraging – for the simple fact that we are all in this together, even when we might feel as if our struggles are our own.
