Slow Food Cycle Sunday is just 17 days away, and with summer shuttling by at a blazing pace, we thought it might be topical to spend some time during August contemplating the Art of Slowing Down.
To kick us off, we start with little retrospective – a reminder of how full July was, by taking a quick look back at a month in the life of the Wellness Almanac.
If you’re interested in sharing a recipe, a column, a tidbit, an event, or an opinion, drop us a note. We’d love to hear from you.
And if you have any thoughts to share about the kind of posts we’re putting out every month, feel free to drop a comment here, or email us at TheWellnessAlmanac@gmail.com.
Events: Canada Day, the Spud Run, PVTA’s Fun’Raiser, the Pemberton BMX TSN Vote, Pemberton & District Musem’s Tea and Tales, Defeat the Duffy, Farmers Market, Money Management Discussions.
Seasonal Observations: delicious recipes to make the most of in-season peas and cherries, blueberries, thimbleberries, invasive weeds, the blue grouse, the Salmon Migration study, and the medicinal properties of devil’s club.
Art & Pictures: Poet Trish Belsham, photographer Simon Bedford, the Winds of Change Instagram Gallery featuring Pemberton BMX, and feature image from Paul Morrison, and a call for entries for the Recycle Art Bike project.
Shout Outs & Stories: Hugh Naylor share the story of Winston the grizzly bear, Dawn Archer shares her journey with depression, and the Lil’wat Public Works team work through the night to reconnect the water.
What do these things all have in common? We think that in gathering together, marking the passage of time either through events or seasonal recipes or wildlife watching or harvests and planting cycles, making art, or sharing our stories or energy, we are creating pathways to move, as a community and as individuals, towards resilience and wellness. That’s what The Wellness Almanac is about.
