Shout Out: Pemberton Paddlers

If you were one of the (apparently just six) people from Pemberton who wasn’t at False Creek on the June 21-23 for the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragonboat Festival, we’ve created a slideshow of some of the highlights, thanks to Pemberton Canoe and Karen Tomlinson. (Warning: it’s very difficult to watch this show, without experiencing a sudden and powerful desire to sign up to become a dragonboater…)

Congratulations again to the Laoyam Eagles, Falcons, Ospreys, Huge Fish, Women’s Guts and Glory, mixed Guts & Glory and Bald Eagles crews. And to Coach Hugh Fisher, for creating something truly amazing – a paddling Mecca in the mountains!

Next up for local paddlers: flatwater sprints, outrigger races and some are headed to Hungary for the Worlds in August.

And watch for summer learn to paddle programs. It’s never to late to get your stroke on.

Coach High Fisher
