Thank you to everyone who came out to support a very successful Fundraiser at Mile One to kick off the 2013 Community Garden Season. With renewals and money raised by Mile One generously donating 10% of sales from Garden members enjoying a great local meal as well as funds raised from RONA donating Garden Gift Baskets for our Raffle draw, we are off to a great start!
Earth Day at the Garden was a huge hit! Best turn out we’ve had, thanks to the new “points” system encouraging everyone to pitch in. We had almost 40 participants made up of members as well as waitlist members come out and help to create 8 New Garden Plots. We also created many new common flower beds to beautify the fence lines of the garden with flowering vines & sweet peas that will in turn attract more bees for pollinating everyone’s veggie patches and bring a sweet smell & look to the Garden as a whole. The Garden Shed was re-vamped to a clean & organized space and a general clean up was greatly accomplished!
Amazing to see the “Can Do, Pitch In” spirit continue through the season with members jumping on board to make the garden an even better place to be. Bike racks being built & the sand box getting a make over, thanks again to RONA for donating 15 bags of Sand for the kiddies to play in.
The absolute deadline to get your Plot Renewed is by 6pm Tuesday April 30th. The committee will then be contacting lucky wait list members to assign all the plots that were not renewed as well as the newly created plots we added!
