Slides on the Mountain: debut screening coming up!

Two young brothers from the Lil’wat Nation set out to ski the mountain they were raised beneath, pushing both themselves and their culture through sport. “Slides on the Mountain” follows brothers Talon (17) and Riki (15), as they decide to ski Ts’zil and set off to learn the skills they need to ride the mountain safely.

Sandy Ward’s first film, Slides on the Mountain, is screening in community across Sea to Sky, in support of ILSA (Indigenous Life Sport Academy) October 13 -16.

The collaboration between Sandy and cinematographer Seth Gillis is the result of a year of planning and production, and presented by TELUS Originals, with support from Arc’teryx and Blackcomb Helicopters.

It’s the story of young local Lil’wat skiers, Talon and Riki Pascal, who take on the adventure of skiing Ts’zil, the mountain they grew up with.

All profits from the community screenings will go directly back to @ilsacrew – so, as Sandy says, “please come and support so that we can keep teaching local Indigenous youth these rad sports.”
