Parents of under 5 year olds, this wonderful program is open for registration now

I only learned about SPARK, the “Supporting Parents Along the Road to Kindergarten” program hosted by the Sea to Sky Community Services, when my kiddo was 4 1/2, so we aged out of the support too early… but what I did experience was helpful and incredible. Parenthood is a fully immersive crash course in something I had no qualifications or training for, and every little tool that helped resource me was most welcome. SPARK is supportive in providing insight about developmental milestones, activities and toys and tools.

S.P.A.R.K. (Supporting Parents Along the Road to Kindergarten) is for parents whose children are newborn to age 5. Caregivers learn important strategies and fun activities that offer vital support to their child’s early learning in a 90-minute session every fall, winter, and spring until their child enters kindergarten.

S.P.A.R.K. is based on the British Columbia Early Learning Framework. Caregivers join a live interactive Zoom session with other caregivers of children the same age. It offers families time to reflect on how children learn and grow.

The S.P.A.R.K. program is founded on a philosophy that learning happens naturally through the experiences, relationships, and joy that families share with their children.

Families are provided with materials and toys when they attend the program. Parents can also register for the Imagination Library, which mails a free, age-appropriate book to their children every month until their fifth birthday.

👉 Please note: these programs do fill up fast. If the age group you are looking for is at full capacity, feel free to reach out to the program coordinator, Ruby Bhangoo for assistance.

This program is funded by British Columbia Ministry of Children and Family Development and Sea to Sky School District #48.
