New Year Land-Linking Workshop looks to connect farmers with farmland

Young Agrarians Whistler Land Link 2019

The best way to grow our community’s food sovereignty and sustainability is to grow our base of farmers. And a key to that is connecting keen growers with arable land. Land-linking workshops have become an amazing tool to do this – a kind of speed-dating to get the right people in the same room, and see if perfect matches can be made. In February, 2019, the Squamish Food Policy Council and Young Agrarians are taking on the entire corridor.

Young Agrarians and the Squamish Food Policy Council present the SQUAMISH-LILLOOET LAND LINKING WORKSHOP on:

Saturday February 2nd, 2019 • 1-6pm

Whistler Athletes Centre (Multi Purpose Room) – 1080 Legacy Way, Whistler, B.C.

GOT LAND? WANT LAND? Are you a landowner looking for farmers? Are you a farmer looking for land? We want you!

Join us for a workshop on the nuts and bolts of land access. Young Agrarians Land Linking Workshops bring together landholders and farmers seeking land to network, explore possible land matches, and learn from land access experts. We will cover land access agreements, the B.C. land matching program, and hear from an expert panel!

Organizers are on the look-out for speakers for the panel: land owners and farmers who are leasing land, a lawyer familiar with land use agreements, and an accountant who knows the ins and outs of farm finances, would all be invaluable. Email Michi at community@youngagrarians.org if you have any leads!
