They juggled  busy workloads, doubled as students and blazed trail, as graduates in the inaugural class of the Indigenous Community Development and Governance Diploma. Huge congratulations to Lil’wat Nation Councillors Kík7ak Helena Edmonds and Lhpatq Maxine Bruce on their graduation from the Indigenous Community Development and Governance Diploma program.

The diploma program, offered through University of Victoria was delivered in a mixed formal. This allowed the two councillors to do the majority of their course online, going to the university for one-week periods throughout the two-year program.

They are the first group to graduate with this qualification.
