Wellness Gathering 2014 Preview (or Why Carlee Cindric is Feeling Hopeful)
Event coordinator extraordinaire, Carlee Cindric, (recently featured in our Vitality Project series), is feeling hopeful you’ll read this post, realise how fun, interactive and kid-friendly the 5th annual Wellness Gathering is going to be, and save November 22 in your diary.
Cindric is working busily behind the scenes in preparation for the 5th annual Wellness Gathering, scheduled for Saturday, November 22, 1pm – 7pm.
It’s all about health and wellbeing. It’s free. And everyone is welcome.
We asked her for a sneak preview of what to look forward to.
What’s the format for the 5th Wellness Gathering?
The 5th annual Wellness Gathering will feature the always popular Wellness Trade Show, live interactive demonstrations, fun for the kids and a celebration dinner. The Cultural Centre will open for the event. The Wellness Trade Show and interactive demonstrations will take place from 1pm-5pm with the celebration dinner following. The celebration dinner will also include the Recognition Awards Ceremony.
What kind of presenters can we expect?
A dedicated Kids Zone, with glitter tattoos, face painting, giant jenga and a giant chess board will be set up to offer lots to keep the little ones inspired.
The Trade Show will feature booths from Stewardship Pemberton, Zumba and Ballet, Local Motion Therapy, the Pemberton and District Library, Lil’wat Cultural Centre with crafts, the Pemberton Community Centre, the Lil’wat Land and Resources Land Code team, Quit Now, Responsible and Problem Gambling Program, Sea to Sky Community Services’ Innovations in Mental Health.
Interactive demonstrations include a children’s ballet performance with Anna Kroupina, an intro to Zumba with Carmen Laslett, massage for kids with Cathy Benns, Yamuna Ball rolling with Cheray Brandt, traditional dance with Gerald Gabriel and a Theatre Works presentation.
We are working with Theatre Works to do an active living demonstration on “theatre for the living.” Theatre Works will also be working with youth (12-24 participants) from PSS and XCS on Friday, prior to the Wellness Gathering, around the theme of “reconciliation”- What is it? What does it mean? Why is it important? How do we do it? That session will run all day and will include theatre games, debriefs and the creation of “animated images” that bring out the main points from the morning session.
Why live exhibits? What makes that fun and engaging?
Live demonstrations allow us to showcase activities that are available in the communities. They also add an element of fun and entertainment to the event. Attendee participation is strongly encouraged!
Who is the Gathering for?
The Wellness Gathering is for anyone and everyone in the Pemberton and Mount Currie communities… kids up to seniors… anyone interested in health and well being!
Health and well being touches everyone. Whether it’s nutritional health, active health, mental health, etc., it’s something we should be aware of and in touch with. So, the range of exhibitor booths and interactive demos is designed to ensure there’s something of value and inspiration to everyone. Also, the health and well being of our communities and how they interact is another reason this event is important.
