Campfire Ban in Effect – Thursday, August 1, 2013

Effective at 12 noon on Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, all open fires, including campfires are banned in all areas of the Coastal Fire Centre, which includes Pemberton and surrounding area. This does not apply to cooking stoves that use gas, propane or briquettes, or to a portable campfire apparatus (ie: your BBQ).

This step is being taken to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety. The fire danger rating is currently “high” to “extreme” throughout the Coastal Fire Centre.

The public is encouraged to call 911 immediately if they spot grass or brush fires or if there appears to be an abandoned campfire.
