I’m trying to cut back on my coffee consumption, but it’s the ritual I miss the most of all.
Hence, my latest discovery – a lovely winter’s day treat. Authentic chai tea.
Brew it yourself in a saucepan on the stove.
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup milk
Place in a saucepan and bring to boil with:
1/2 stick cinnamon
2 cloves
2 cardamom seeds (or 1 ml/dash of cardamom powder)
When it comes to a boil, add:
2 tbsp black tea leaves (Darjeeling or Ceylon)
It will boil up again. Turn the flame down and leave to steep for 1-2 minutes. Strain into cups, add sugar and enjoy.
What’s your coffee alternative?
Kracus, mixed in a smidgeon of water, made with milk
Sorry. Misspelled it – Krakus (roasted barley, rye, chicory. beet. Zero caffeine).
Ooh, sounds delicious, Bob. Thanks for sharing. Where do you get the Krakus from? Do you make it yourself? Or have a secret source?
