Valley of Light in hindsight: a One Year Challenge comes to an end.
Back in February, I followed a tweet by Tourism Pemberton to discover the blog, Valley of Light, a daily photo journal of our backyard from photographer Polek Rybczynksi. A daily practice, I suspect, is a cornerstone for wellness. (How could both Rumi and Seth Godin be wrong?) I’m always fascinated by the myriad ways people … Continue reading Valley of Light in hindsight: a One Year Challenge comes to an end.
Column: One Day at a Time
Every year, the same resolution floats back up to the top of my list, accusatory as an oil slick. Floss. Every day. There’s no excuse for not flossing daily, yet I make them. For some reason, a daily habit creates resistance in me. It’s why Polek Rybczynski’s Valley of Light photo journal entranced me from … Continue reading Column: One Day at a Time

Photo of the Week: Polek Rybczynski
Polek's beautiful photo, "The Secrets of Time", brought to mind a recent update from Stewardship Pemberton of coho salmon spawning. Something else to celebrate on this solstice day.

Sometimes, it doesn't seem so far-fetched. Okay, enough news headlines. For some pure (FREE) escapism, check out the Friends of the Library movie night tonight. A 2014 … Continue reading Library Movie Night screening Guardians of the Galaxy tonight, 7pm

Reconciliation in stop motion
Students from Xit’olacw Community School and Pemberton Secondary School participated in a day long workshop on November 21, utilizing the games and exercises of Theatre for Living to explore what reconciliation means. Me personally? Stage-shy. So I can't think of anything more vulnerable than playing improv theatre games. Doing that on highly-charged topics like reconciliation - wow. Hats off to … Continue reading Reconciliation in stop motion
