If I weren’t already trying to work out how to be in two places at once, on Thursday, I would be here, too…
Because Andy MacKinnon is a legend in the mushrooming world. A forest ecologist who lives in Metchosin, BC, he will present to the Pemberton & District Library as a guest of the Speĺkúmtn and Cheakamus Community Forests. Andy studied fungi (mycology) at UBC in 1982, and then spent a career as a forest ecologist for the BC Forest Service until he retired in 2015.
He has written 6 best-selling books about plants of western North American and is a regular field trip leader at mushroom festivals around south-western BC in the fall.
He will provide a fascinating overview of the marvellous roles fungi play in our forests, as the decomposers, parasites and plant partners that make our forests work.
