September events – what’s coming up

Hikers. Dog walkers. Trail runners. Where ya at? We’ve got something for you!  A call to continue with the Tour de Soo extension South – Phase 2 project. Come join us to help re-open up this old section of trail which will eventually connect the gravel pit on the 99 to Pemberton once again.

This section is a skinny blue single track which due to the nature of the terrain will be fun for hikers, not so interesting for bikers and most likely unsuitable for equestrian use, i.e. hiking trail. The PVTA will support @blackbirdbakerypemberton and pay for a free snack and drink of your choice + a lucky dip to win some sweet PVTA merch! A big shout out and thanks to the Trail day Sponsor @thebeerfarmers!

  • 5 September, Tuesday, 8:45am: Back to school, (for 90 minutes). Breaking everyone in gently. Including motorists, who need to remember to honour the 30km/hour speed zone and NOT TRY TO PASS A STOPPED SCHOOL BUS. (Over 400 students will be heading into Signal Hill Elementary along with a large number of staff, so give yourselves a bit more driving time to accommodate.)
  • Week of 5 September for two weeks, One Mile disruptions: the Pemberton Valley Dyking District will be working with Lil’wat Nation, Cascade Environmental and Coastal Mountain Excavations at Pemberton Creek and One Mile Lake to divert the river into the side channel and then excavate the main channel. This will remove sediment to create more spawning opportunities for salmon and protect the dyke from being easily overtopped. All work must be done in a short window due to DFO regulation and river flow rates. Please use pedestrian bridge or boardwalk to bypass this area. Red tape will be up to notify.
