I just read an article that said motherhood is an institution and it needs an upgrade.
Fatherhood, too, is an institution that hasn’t necessarily served men, their partners, and their kids, well. But stepping out of the paradigm is tricky, too. There are no rule books, handbooks, guidelines, maps… but there are a lot of expectations – on all parents these days – and navigating those, and taking care of yourself, is a tricky path.
That’s why I’m so stoked that Growing Great Children have brought back an initiative they first ran two years ago: Dad’s night at the Distillery.
With Father’s Day in sight, Growing Great Children is hosting a parenting talk especially for dads.
Greg McDonnell, Whistler-based clinical counsellor (and dad), will discuss the art of balancing fatherhood with the active Sea to Sky lifestyle. He will focus on attachment parenting, adjusting to fatherhood, and self-care for dads.
The event will be held at the Pemberton Distillery and after the talk, dads can take a tour of the distillery and enjoy a “dad beverage.”
Space is limited and the last event was really well received by those who attended. To reserve your spot, sign up and bring $10 to Pemberton Valley Wellness by May 25.
