Guest speaker at the January 27 Pemberton Rotary meeting: Pulling Together Society Canoe Journey committee member d’Artagnan Newton

The Rotary Club of Pemberton is pleased to welcome d’Artagnan Newton from Pulling Together Society Canoe Journey as a speaker at our weekly club meeting on January 27, 2016.

d’Artagnan sits on the planning committee for the 2016 Pulling Together Society Canoe Journey which is now in its 16th year.  The communities of Lil’wat, Samahquam, Skateen, Xa’xtsa and Sts’ailes First Nations are hosting the event.

The Canoe Journey, which will have 20 voyager canoes and an estimated 200 pullers and 200 extend canoe family members making the journey, will run from July 2nd – 9th and starts at the top of Lillooet Lake moving down towards Harrison Lake and on to a finish in Mission.  The canoe clans are made up of government service agencies (RCMP, DFO, Navy etc) and First Nation community members.

d’Artagnan will talk about the event in more detail and to look for ideas and contacts to help with some key challenges of the planning of the Journey.
