H’Om Grown Fest, September 12-14

What better place to explore yoga and wellness than in Pemberton, based at the Community Centre, for the first homegrown grassroots H’Om Grown Fest?

Thanks to an innovative Abundance Market and “expansion project”, the producers are offering free programming to the community, on the Great Lawn of the Pemberton Community Centre.

 

All are welcome. (Note: If you are partaking in any of the yoga classes, please show up at least 10 minutes before start-time to complete the required document.)

11:30am-12:10pm | Georgette Metcalfe | Yoga for Youth  (Ages 13 – 16)  ~ Learning the tools to connect body, mind and breath at a young age is the greatest gift you can give yourself.  The constant stimulation from iPod’s, iPhones, facebook, twitter, snapchat, etc are a part of our culture now such that achieving a grounded and conscious balance between the external stimulation and our inner calm is essential for well-being and health. In this class, we will reunite with our greatest ally, the breath. We will learn how the breath can help to calm, restore and tone.  After taking the time to open and free the joints we will enjoy a fun asana practice in which feeling the body on a deeper level will be encouraged.  Finally, a relaxation/meditation time to seal our practice together.

2:30pm-3:10pm | Heather Baker | Super treats!  ~ The ease and grace of making your own Super treats! Including simple Raw Chocolate, The NOW moment Chocolate Fudge, Coconut ‘Fudge’. Chaga/ Reishi Super Tea Continuum. What is Moringa and why is it so awesome? How to connect with your food.

 

3:30pm-4:10pm | Salvatore Zambito | Birth of the Cosmos: A Yogic Perspective  ~From the yogic perspective it all began with the Hiranyagarbha – the Golden Egg

 

4:30pm-5:10pm | Hannah Dobbin | A Deeper Look at Water (Ages 6-12)  ~ Explore the findings made by Dr. Masaru Emoto in his book, Messages from Water. Learn about how much of our bodies is actually water and how much it is required for our survival. Find out what part you can play in making the water in your body and on the planet happier and healthier. With an emphasis on Vinyasa, encourage movement and flow within your water body, and make your own thought-impression on a water crystal to deepen this communication.

11:30am-12:10pm | Tamara Veitch and Rene DeFazio | Secrets of the Ancients: The Meaning of the Flower of Life ~ Secrets of the Ancients: The Meaning of the Flower of Life shares the epiphanies and research that inspired the writing of One Great Year, and in pursuing an extraordinary, purpose-filled life!

1:30-2:10pm | Hannah Dobbin | The Gift of Kindness (Ages 6-12) ~ Can you look in the mirror and say “I am beautiful?” or is it sometimes difficult? You can only be as kind to others as you are to yourself. Practice asana with affirmations and feel your strength and focus increase when highlighting positive, uplifting thoughts. Learn about the meaning of compassion, and remember this if you ever find yourself in a situation involving bullying. Do your best to not take things personally as you walk through life.  Every one has their own struggles and ups and downs, which influence them to act and speak in certain ways.

 

2:30pm-3:10pm | Polek Rybczynski | Permaculture – The Design of Sacred Space ~“Excuse me, ummm, what is Sacred Space?” “Ah right, I knew that. And ahhh, you say I create this ‘space’?” “Oh, I see. You mean I Co-Create this space?! No way! And Permaculture helps me in doing this?”  “Hmm, well this is just joyful, but, I have one more question?”  “What is Permaculture??”  Thank you for asking!  Growing our own food consciously is a wonderful start. But in this interactive talk, we will explore Permaculture Ethics and Principles and how they give us clear guidance to the interaction and design of this most important space around us, the Sacred Space.   You are most welcome to join me upon this explorative.  May the day bring you happiness.

 

3:30pm-4:10pm | Tanya Di Valentino | Turnip the Beet and Flow! ~ A fun and grounding root down kinda flow!  Focus on balance, core stability and grace to some flavourful DJ beats for a lighter step on the earth.  All levels are welcome.

 

4:30pm-5:10pm | Hannah Dobbin | My Color-Full World (Ages 3-5) ~ Play, dance and sing with the colors around you. What is your favorite? How does it make you feel? Explore yoga poses named after some very colorful animals found in the water, air and on land! Name off the colors you see every day, paint rainbows on your world and find out what you can do to brighten the colors!
