Inspiration: A habit worth breaking

On Tuesday, as I listened to the news about the breach and spill from the Mount Polley Mine tailings pond, one quote stayed with me. It was Xat’sull Chief Bev Sellars. (Sellars is also the author of the book They Called Me Number One, which was reviewed on the Wellness Almanac last year.)

Sellars told CBC, “Our people are on the fringes of the [mainstream] economy, so our economy comes from the land.”

Honestly, I think I’d trade a handful of gold earrings and rings to get the salmon run back. Wouldn’t you?

No tomorrow
