We’re halfway through LOCO’s Buy Local Week, an initiative that kicks off after Black Friday’s shopping frenzy, and aims to inspire people to Choose Local this Holiday Season, instead.
It is inspired by the Local Multiplier Effect, which indicates that, for every dollar spent at a local business (instead of at a corporate chain), 45 cents is reinvested locally.
In short, local businesses keep communities strong, unique, and resilient. Let’s invest in them and make our holiday spending count.
According to LOCOBC, a 1% increase in BC consumer spending would create 3100 jobs and $94 million in wages… One percent won’t make or break your holiday budget, but if we all made the effort, it could make a big difference.
