The Pemberton Farmer’s Institute presents Wendy Holm, agricultural economist, feisty foe of the rampant industrialization of farming, free-enterprise champion and Cuban revolutionary, as their guest speaker, on Wednesday Jan 9th at 7pm at St. Davids United Church.
It is the start, potentially, of a Speakers Series, from the Pemberton Farmer’s Institute, a group hell-bent on sowing the seeds of good food and revolution in our neighbourhood.
Admission is free for 2012 PFI members , $5 for non-members.
An award-winning resource economist, Agrologist, author and journalist, Wendy has covered stories at the forefront of Canadian policy since the early 1990’s, picking up seven national journalism awards since 2003. A UBC lecturer and Distinguished Alumni, Holm is a powerful communicator on issues as diverse as food and resource policy, governance, cooperative economics, sustainable communities, international engagement, globalization and international cooperation.
All are welcome.
