Recent news from the One Mile Lake Nature Centre:
A new inlet channel and fish rearing habitat is being built. The goal is to allow the beavers to continue to build dams but ensure a dedicated flow into the lake. This is an extension of the outflow channel built in 2009. While the work is happening, the lake levels will be low but once work is complete this week, the valve allowing water from Pemberton Creek will be opened. This will bring cold, glacial water into the lake which will slow weed growth and ensure the lake doesn’t get stagnant. Have questions? veronicarobin@yahoo.ca
