The promise of a delicious lunch at Fescues, at the Big Sky Golf Course, and to hear from Chief Skalúlmecw Dean Nelson and Líl̓wat Business Group CEO Rosemary Stager, was an invitation that Chamber members jumped on, with Thursday’s Lunch and Learn to honour National Truth and Reconciliation Week selling out.
Chief Skalúlmecw Dean will share insights and stories while highlighting the significant achievements and developments that the Líl̓wat Nation has experienced in recent years. Attendees will also have a chance to meet and connect with the recently appointed CEO of the Lil’wat Business Group, Rosemary Stager.
I am grateful for the energy that Chamber Executive Director Natalie Langmann has been putting into this week’s events, including this Lunch and Learn, trying to create meaningful opportunities for us to grow together, build relationships and learn with each other.
We are living in dynamic times, where the old ways of doing things require an update, an upgraded operating system. The journey of decolonizing ourselves, which I think holds the promise of being incredibly liberating, will undoubtedly be sticky and uncomfortable, but if we’re willing to show up with open minds and open hearts and a growth mindset, we will create something that our kids’ can flourish in. That’s the dream, anyway. Coming together over food and talk is a good place to start.
Great initiative. Might open gateways for many.
