Artist Shawn Hunt’s Transformation Mask on exhibit at the Audain Art Museum, March 9 – April 9

Shawn Hunt is a Heiltsuk artist who wants to give people a chance to look through indigenous eyes. And so, he created a mask – with a 3D printer and a HolonLens.

Traditionally, transformation masks have been carved out of red or yellow cedar.

Shawn Hunt’s Transformation Mask is different. It’s “an interactive installation that features the technology HoloLens. It utilizes electronics and mechanical engineering in a physical transformation, before beginning a holographic experience for the viewer.”

It’s currently on exhibit at the Audain Art Museum, until April 9.

See and touch the mask. Be transformed.

Visitors are asked to engage with and become part of the installation and to explore the art that is transformation.
