The Vitality Project: Tanya Richman

When I asked Tanya Richman to share her thoughts on vitality with me, way back in the depths of winter, she was basically too busy to do it, but she still stopped in the middle of her life and fired this back in my direction. Which was awesome. Also awesome is the way Tanya pushed a little fear of public speaking down deep to speak at the Kathy Barnett Leadership Luncheon last month.
Here she is, in her own words.

Vitality? I’m so busy right now that one of my thoughts was …. Vitality? Who’s got time to consider vitality? … Wait a minute… I have two busy kids, a busy partner, a busy me, courses, meetings, practices, games, group work, committee here and there. Vitality for me right now is the ability to take a breath, appreciate what I’ve got going on, embrace the busy and just go for it. Fit it in with the hugs, snuggles, card games, board games, baking, homework, skiing, self-care. Look up at the bright cold sky on this Wednesday, January 2014 and think ‘oh yeah, I’m freaking busy and that’s okay!’ It won’t always be this way, vitality will look different soon and it hasn’t always looked this way. Right now vitality is the ability to get it done and have some fun while doing it.
