Hobiyee! The Nisga’a New Year!
JANUARY 31 – FEBRUARY 1, 2014
PNE FORUM
11am-10pm daily
Free Admission
HOBIYEE is a celebration of the Nisga’a Nation; a celebration of the February Moon, the Moon that tells the people what the coming year will bring in harvest of Salmon, Berries, and Game.
For Southern BC, this celebration gives reason for the Urban Aboriginals to gather to celebrate through traditional song and dance. The Nisga’a of Ts’amiks (Vancouver) host this celebration each year to invite dance groups from other Nations to join in the celebration.
The Nisga’a of Ts’amiks {Southern BC} welcome all to this FREE event.
HOBIYEE 2014 – Village of Ts’amiks Edition
The Nisga’a People residing in the beautiful, unceded Coast Salish Territory of Vancouver, affectionately called Ts’amiks (twinkling of lights of the bay) by the Nisga’a are very honoured to present HOBIYEE 2014 – Ts’amiks Edition, Friday, January 31 and Saturday Feb. 1, 2014 at the PNE Forum.
The Nisga’a community prides itself on celebrating Hoobiyee closest to when the actual Hobiiyee Moon is in the sky. In 2014, Hoobixhee moon begins to show around Feb. 2-3, 2014.
