Happy Winter Solstice, the darkest day of the year

The winter solstice.

A single moment, when the Earth’s maximum axial tilt to the sun is 23°23’.

It also represents the shortest day and longest night of the year.

Luckily, there’s a blanket of snow everywhere, so things feel pretty bright. And, we know that from this point forward, the light gets longer, bit by bit.

Or, as was explained on mashable.com today,

for those who are not fans of winter, take heart. From here on out, the days will get lighter and lighter. For winter lovers, there’s good news also: The coldest temperatures are still to come.

That’s a win-win, all around.
