The Village of Pemberton in partnership with the Pemberton Rotary Club has posted a call to artists to submit artwork for consideration for the Village Street Banners.

Visual artists can submit up to 3 different entries on themes related to Peace and what it means to them, locally, regionally or globally.

Peace begins at home and in each community. It transcends the simplistic view of an absence of war and encompasses all those measures that improve human relations with positive and harmonious outcomes. The rejection of violence, the respect for life and human dignity, the defending of freedom of expression and cultural diversity,the resolution of personal and urban violence and the reconciliation of differences can realize those freedoms under which peace and harmony can flourish.

Deadline for submissions is 4:30pm on Friday September 21, 2012 – the United Nations’ International Day of Peace.
