The Pemberton Farmers’ Market exists to bring Pemberton-area producers and consumers together directly, creating a marketplace for the best-quality, freshest produce in Pemberton, and fostering a healthy and sustainable, professional, organic farming industry in the Pemberton area – while also striving to bring a diverse sampling of the community together every week of the season. The Market runs every Wednesday in downtown Pemberton at the new barn, from June 18 to October 8.
We think that’s a good recipe for wellness.
So, now that market season is underway, we are reprising our weekly Faces of the Farmers Market series, giving you a chance to meet some of the faces behind the food, and the folk behind the market stand.
This week, meet JD and Sharon Hare of Hare’s Farm.
My wife and I grow 4 acres of Certified Organic Blueberries (Reka, Draper, and Liberty) on the Birkenhead River Aquifer, in the beautiful Pemberton Valley.
We’re growing in a rich mineral silt soil, irrigating with the freshest water in the world; our field is a literal wildlife sanctuary! Surrounded by mature wetland forest, it is home to thousands of native bumblebees, as well as countless birds and other critters.
We also keep several honeybee hives, and often have pure, unpasteurized honey for sale.
It’s our joy to supply all our friends and neighbours in the Sea-to-Sky corridor with the most nutritious fresh food possible!
Email haresfarm1993@gmail.com to arrange bulk orders at a price of $4/lb, for pick-up at the farmer’s market.
