Earlier this month, the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation made a lot of local kids very very happy, when they announced their grants, including a generous $35,000 gift to the Pemberton BMX Society to purchase a new start gate.
The Foundation, which has awarded more than $7.8 million in grants since 1993, distributed $145,000 this month, and is now gearing up for their winter fundraiser, the TELUS Winter Classic to be held on Jan. 24 and 25.
The Whistler Blackcomb Foundation also supported the Pemberton Food Bank and Pemberton Secondary School Outdoor Program.
The Wellness Almanac is a project made possible thanks to the generosity of the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation in 2013.
“The biggest success for the Winds of Change in the past year has been the traction
around the Wellness Almanac and related social media platforms. It gives us a direct
connection to local residents and allows us to highlight different aspects of our
communities 365 days of the year. Recently with the declaration of Reconciliation Week
we were able to use the platform to run a specific awareness campaign around the
Indian Residential Schools and their impact on our wellbeing. We can do similar things
with other issues in the future. It has greatly expanded our capacity to engage others in
learning and sharing.” Sheldon Tetreault
16 months since launching, the Wellness Almanac has become the primary platform and touch point for the Winds of Change Steering
Committee to connect with, inform, educate and inspire the community it serves.

In six months, we have more than doubled our readership, and almost doubled our contributor base. We now have almost 20 different contributors, have just celebrated our 600th post, and welcomed over 20,000 views.
Thank you to Mei McCurdy, Dave Brownlie, the Whistler Blackcomb Foundation Board, and all the donors and supporters who make this possible. Your generosity goes a long long way.
