After eating an avocado on toast the other day, my first thought was: No! I don’t want it to be over.
So I googled “how to grow your own avocado tree from a seed.”
Which is the inherent miracle of seeds. If you have one, you never have to run out. (That’s why Monsanto has been on a mission to neutralise seeds. How else can they continue to generate $4billion in profits every quarter?)
Will it grow? Who knows? But it’s a fun experiment.
How to grow your own avocado tree from seed:
1. Eat a delicious avocado.
2. Save the seed. Rinse is clean.
3. Insert three toothpicks into the seed, and rest it over a jar of water, with the lower inch covered in water. Sit it on a sill where it will get some sun and wait for roots and a shoot to sprout.
