Event: Vision for Child Care in BC, October 10

The Pemberton Child Care Society invites you to attend a presentation of the Community Plan for a Public System of Integrated Early Care and Learning in BC. Stop by the Pemberton Children’s Centre, across from the Pemberton Community Centre, from 7pm, October 10th,to hear Sharon Gregson, on behalf of the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of B.C., explain the plan. The presentation will be one to two hours long, refreshments provided.

The vision features $10 a day child care and a living wage for child care staff/

Across British Columbia, municipalities, school boards, labour unions, businesses, academics, community organizations, parents and early childhood educators support the plan. They want the provincial government to implement a cap on parent fees of $10 per day, build more child care spaces, and raise levels of training and wages for workers. Next Wednesday, you can find out all about it.

This is a “made-in BC” solution to the Child Care Crisis, that has been developed by the Coalition of Child Care Advocates of BC and the Early Childhood Educators of BC.

Today, BC Child Care providers connect on a daily basis with the families of over 95,000 children. This makes child care the biggest front line family support service. Yet, it remains one of the least supported by government.

Thanks for the opportunity to present the $10/day Plan in Pemberton. I was glad to see the event so well attended and answer questions from the audience. Pleased to also see the Mayor and a Councillor took the time to attend and gather information on this solution to the child care crisis in BC. We look forward to your support!
