On August 31st, there will be events held around the world dedicated to the serious problem of drug overdose. Most drug overdose deaths are preventable and all jurisdictions are being encouraged to integrate overdose prevention strategies into their public health and policing strategies. Overdose can strike anyone who uses opiates – whether they be illegal or prescribed opioids.
In Canada, thousands of people experience drug overdoses each year and far too many ODs lead to death. Please take a moment and think about how you can be a part of overdose prevention in your community this August 31st and watch for CDPC announcements on events taking place in Canada.
